Ninja Mega Kitchen System (BL770)

The BL770 Mega Kitchen System is our favorite blending appliance to come out of the Ninja workshop. It has a vast array of attachments and toys to ensure this appliance is prepared for almost any occasion.

With 'total crushing technology' that can convert ice into snowballs in the blink of an eye, this Ninja blender possesses more power than you need, be careful though, as that power could lead to a cracked pitcher.

1. Ninja Professional BL610

Ninja Professional 72 Oz Countertop Blender with 1000-Watt Base and Total Crushing Technology for Smoothies, Ice and Frozen Fruit (BL610), Black
  • The Ninja professional blender 1000 features a sleek design and outstanding performance with 1000 watts of professional power 64 ounce maximum liquid capacity

  • The 72 ounce professional blender jar is perfect for making large batches of creamy, frozen drinks and smoothies for the entire family also perfect for large batches of delicious margaritas and daiquiris

The 72oz Ninja Professional BL610 blender is a sleek appliance that is easy to use and has a powerful motor capable of turning most ingredients into a tasty liquid, using the ‘Total Crushing Technology.’

However, a question mark hangs over the appliance’s head with build quality issues that reportedly cause the pitcher to crack over time. It is worth noting this isn’t the case with every unit, but there have been enough customer complaints to cause concern.

  •   Not Easy to Clean

Looks

The Ninja BL610 is very traditional in appearance, not straying too far from the original design of the very first blender that was introduced to the market almost 90 years ago.

It has a sleek black base with a simply designed button layout for ease of use, while its angular pitcher finishes the overall retro feel. The plastic jar takes away from the general pleasant design as it cheapens the appearance ever so slightly.

Score: 3.5/5

Capacity

With a 72oz capacity pitcher, the Ninja Professional is one of the more vast commercial blenders on sale. Which means this blender is more than capable of making smoothies for all the family in one fell swoop.

Score: 4.5/5

Features

Four Manual Settings: The manual speed presets are as simple as they come, but they only help with ease of use. The unit comes with ‘Low,’ ‘Medium,’ and ‘High’ speed settings. ‘Pulse’ is also available for chunkier and more textured recipes.

‘Total Crushing Technology’: We’re not sure what this so-called ‘ice crushing technology’ actually entails, but Ninja’s claim that the blade design and appliance power can “turn ice to snow in seconds.” Long story short, this blender can pulverize even the most stubborn of ingredients.

Locking Lid & Pour Spout: Anything that makes an appliance safer and easier to use gets bonus points in our book. The locking mechanism is simple and doesn’t require much force to lock into place, while the pour spout makes it straightforward to pour out your smoothie without having to take off the lid.

Cord Storage: It’s incredible how few products come with a place to store the appliances’ leads and cords, especially when you consider how easy this feature is to implement and how useful it can be. Fortunately, the Ninja BL610 comes equipped with this function to help your blender and kitchen always look clean and tidy.

Score: 3.5/5

Performance & Cleaning

A 1000W motor means the Ninja BL610 can cope reasonably well with most blending tasks; however, it appears that the poorly thought out blade placement can lead to less-than-smooth smoothies.

With no blade placed directly at the bottom of the blender, any ingredients stuck there will compromise the smoothies’ smoothness.

Then there’s the pitcher, which appears to be made from less than adequate plastic in some units as several customers have had issues with the plastic cracking over time. Whether this is due to the plastic not being durable enough or if the motor is just too powerful is not known, just be aware of this potential issue.

Cleaning can also be a challenge. The rectangular pitcher has a propensity to get powders stuck in the corner, while the razor-sharp blade configuration can be tricky and dangerous to clean.

Score 3/5

Should you buy the Ninja Professional BL610?

When you consider the price point and the massive blending capacity of this appliance, it does represent decent value for money. However, consumers should be aware of the potential pitfalls of owning the Ninja Professional BL610.

If you’re lucky enough to find one of these appliances on offer, replacing the pitcher if it does crack, could prove to be as expensive as the blender itself.

Looks

The central unit of the Ninja BL770 is almost identical to the BL610, with the exception of a marginally different layout on the control panel, a stockier base, and a set of sturdier-looking feet. It is not necessarily a bad thing as they are both decent looking appliances.

This bumper box-set also comes with a processor bowl and two 16oz cups, which are both fairly standard in appearance.

Score: 3.5/5

Capacity

Much like its little brother, the Ninja Mega Kitchen System comes with a substantial 72oz pitcher. This variety pack also comes with a 64oz processor bowl and two 16oz cups (with ‘to go’ lids), giving the consumer a whole host of different capabilities.

Score: 5/5

Features

‘Mega Kitchen System’: If some versatility is needed in your kitchen, the “Mega Kitchen System” has got you covered. Considering the relatively reasonable price point, Ninja supplies you with a whole host of different options on top of the 72oz pitcher. Chop and shred your vegetables with the 64oz processor bowl or quickly produce single-serving smoothies or shakes with the 16oz cups.

Preset Functions: With five preset functions that consist of Blend, Crush, Single Serve, Pulse, and Dough, this appliance has a decent amount of functionality.

Different Blade Options: Not all blades are created equal, so Ninja provides a diverse selection of these extremely sharp implements to ensure the consumer has the best tool for the job. With four different blades for chopping, slicing, pulverizing, and mixing, this is a versatile product.

‘Total Crushing Technology’: This Ninja product comes with their self-proclaimed ice crushing feature that can blast ice into oblivion (well, almost) for your refreshing drinks and shakes.

Score: 4/5

Performance & Cleaning

While the plastic cracking issues on the pitchers aren’t as widespread as it is with the BL610, there are still reports of it happening with the Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770. Whether it’s the cheap plastic or overly powerful motors doing the damage, we know not, but consider this potential issue when making your choice.

It does perform its blending & processing duties admirably, with the majority of consumer complaints aimed at build quality rather than how it blends ingredients.

Cleaning is also a breeze with the removable parts being dishwasher safe; it also seems easier to clean than the BL610.

Score 3.5/5

Should you buy the Ninja Mega Kitchen System BL770?

For a relatively low price point, the Ninja Mega Kitchen System represents excellent value for money. There are potential issues with frail plastics and some pitchers cracking during use, but the variety and capabilities that come with this product could be worth the risk.

Cons

  •   Very Noisy
  •   Leaky Lids

  • Appliance Weight: 5.6lbs
  • Capacity: 24oz
  • Available Colors: Black
  • Dishwasher Safe: Yes

Looks

The Nutri-Ninja Auto iQ is a compact appliance with a contemporary design that will look superb in all modern kitchens. Its silver base, black trim, and its finely designed control panel are the epitome of simplicity and give the blender an appearance far in advance of its price point.

Score: 4/5

Capacity

The 24oz capacity is nothing to write home about; however, there is a gap in the marketplace for this kind of product for people flying solo and folks within the fitness community looking to get healthier using smoothies and protein shakes.

Score: 3/5

Features

Nutri Ninja Pro Extractor Blades: The good folks at Ninja suggest their ‘extraction technology’ makes shakes and smoothies more nutritionally dense. That is, of course, just smart marketing and wordplay. There’s nothing a blender can do to add vitamins and nutrients to a drink.

What it can do is blend whole fruits and vegetables so that you can use every last morsel of your produce, so nothing goes to waste.

Auto iQ Technology: If you’re not the kind of person who likes to stand around pressing buttons and waiting until your drink/soup/whatever it is you’re blending is ready, then like us, you’ll appreciate the Auto iQ feature. It has pre-programmed settings that will autonomously change times, speeds, and pulses to ensure your produce is chopped, diced, and sliced to perfection (or as near to perfection as this appliance will allow).

Drinks to Go: The 24oz and 18oz Nutri Ninja cups come with spout-lid style tops to make shakes and smoothies quick and easy to blend and get out and about.

The lids can be difficult to tighten for those with small hands and may leak if not tightened sufficiently.

Score: 3.5/5

Performance & Cleaning

For the most part, the Nutri Ninja Auto iQ BL480 blends fruits, veg, and ice like an absolute beast. It can miss a chunk here and a lump there from time to time, but it generally blends to a reasonably high standard considering the low price point.

That beastly power does come at a cost, though, as this blender is exceedingly loud when in use. Loud enough to almost warrant wearing earplugs while you’re blasting that banana and strawberry smoothie.

This Ninja blender is relatively easy to clean. It’s not quite as challenging as the BL610, but nor is it as simple as the BL770.

Score 4/5

Should you buy the Ninja Nutri Ninja Auto iQ BL480?

There’s no need to buy a large appliance if you’re only blending for one, or knocking out the occasional smoothie, so the Ninja BL480 has a place in the market. It looks great and has some very functional features.

Its small footprint and low price point betray the sheer power this blender is hiding under the hood, but be prepared to put your fingers in your ears because this one is loud. This model is our top recommendation for the best personal blender and has made our list of best blenders.
